If you ask any Yeezy fan what the best sneaker of all-time is, there's a massive chance that they'd bring up the Yeezy Boost 700 "Wave Runner." First released all the way back in 2017 (when times were much simpler), it was one of the first trainers ever to fully embrace the chunky dad shoe trend that we're still obsessed with even today. Following several extremely limited re-releases over the years, the legendary trainer is now coming back for the last time.
Working on top of a mesh base, the "Wave Runner" features a "Solid Grey" leather upper that's smooth and supple to the touch. Black suede wraps around the lateral and medial sidewalls, while teal and blue accenting makes a cameo across the toebox for that classic colour combination that's instantly recognisable.
Down below, the shoe sits on top of a highly sculpted midsole that's infused with adidas' critically-acclaimed Boost tech. This is lined with a grippy rubber outsole, and the YZY is finished off with a pair of "Semi Frozen Yellow" laces.
At the end of last year, adidas terminated its partnership with Kanye West due to anti-semitic comments that he made across his social media channels. However, with over $1.3 billion worth of inventory just sitting in storage, they made the decision to continue to release everything in hopes that it will minimise the brand's profit loss, as well as avoid a potential issue with sustainability.
The Yeezy Boost 700 "Wave Runner" will restock as part of this initiative, and will be the final time that it will ever return. Currently scheduled for August 16th, make sure you keep it locked at The Edit LDN for your best chance to cop. Let us know if you'll be going for them, and in related news, the JJJJound x adidas Samba is coming soon!
