Her Edit LDN: Bethany Ferns & Her Experiences Working in the Fashion Industry

Even if you don't know of her name (you absolutely should!), you've definitely admired some of Bethany Ferns' amazing work at some point. An accomplished stylist with over 8 years in the fashion industry, she has worked with a wide range of celebs, including Jack O'Connell, Maro Itoje, Daryll Neita, Misse Beqiri, and Harry Lawtey, to name a few.

With her wealth of experience in styling for red carpet events, tours, and some of the most prestigious publications in the world, through our Her Edit LDN platform, we sat down with Bethany to chat about what influences her, 'pinch me' moments, dream clients, and so much more!

Hi Bethany! First question: What does Her Edit LDN mean to you?

I think it's a great platform to represent women, especially in this industry, where female bosses are paving the way for younger girls to go earn their own money and to get what they want in life, while expressing themselves and their own style.

Was there anything specific that influenced you to become a stylist?

It's funny. I used to love watching Lauren and Whitney on The Hills interning at Teen Vogue, and realised that's what I wanted to do once I finished school. Then I began interning at magazines and totally fell in love with the industry, working alongside all these amazing female fashion editors.

If money was no object, what would be in your basket?

A personalised Hermès bag and all of my favourite sneaker collabs. I mainly buy collaboration sneakers as they're rare to have so I like to collect them!

What's been your most ‘pinch me’ moment yet?

I'd say being on set with Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner, and flying to LA to work on the Oscars. Also, working at British Vogue was definitely special for me.

During your styling career, have you ever faced any adversity?

All. The. Time. But it’s a lot more subtle than how movies like Devil Wears Prada makes it out to be. It makes you a tough cookie, which I suppose is a good thing!

Who would be your dream client to work with and why?

Travis Scott, Lil Baby, and Pharrell, for sure. For females, I’d say Dua Lipa and Alexa Demie too!

Finally, have you got anything exciting in the works you can share with us?

I'm currently creating looks for a dream client which could mean big changes for me. I'm also looking at signing with an agency and creating a fashion-focused podcast which will have special guests from the industry to inspire others.
