Nike Creative Director Mark Smith and Nathan Van Hook assisted in the creation of the Air Yeezy, which drew significant inspiration from the Air Tech Challenge 2, Air Jordan 3, and Air Jordan 4. Kanye West subsequently released six different colorways over the years, each more distinct than the last. Among all of the releases, the Air Yeezy 2 "Red October" stands out as the most iconic and possibly one of the most polarizing sneakers ever produced.

The Air Yeezy 2 SP 'Red October' distinguishes itself from its two counterparts in several ways. Firstly, it features a singular crimson color scheme that is only accentuated by gold lace tips. Additionally, its design eschews the standard anaconda texture in favor of numerous small triangular studs arranged in rows along the side panels. Lastly, the release of the shoe was surrounded by controversy and disorganization, with multiple delays before the shoe was finally made available online without any prior warning in February 2014. It is worth noting that by the time the Red Octobers were released, Kanye West had already severed all ties with Nike.
