Ask a dedicated Kanye West fan about West’s initial foray into sneaker collaboration, and even they might over- look the time when Kanye teamed up with Bape & Nigo to craft a rendition of its icon- ic Bapesta style. Distinct from the subse- quent collaborations, this sneaker didn’t involve Kanye West conceiving the style from scratch. Rather, it typified the prevail- ing trends in the sneaker realm during that era—melding a well-recognized silhou- ette with a fresher, more exclusive colour palette (akin to Supreme’s Nike Dunks or Undefeated’s Jordan IVs). In the context of Kanye West, this venture translated into incorporating his “Dropout Bear” mascot onto the heel and incorporating the brown, orange, and tan colour scheme prominent- ly featured on the cover of his album “The College Dropout.” This collaborative effort epitomised the intersection of music, fash- ion, and sneaker culture during that period, exemplifying how iconic visuals and color- ways from the music world could seam- lessly translate into sneaker design.

CONDITION
Sneakers have been worn or tried on, as there are signs of dirt on outsole. Slight fuzzing is present on sock lining. Slight peeling on tongue material of left shoe. Rubber slightly worn off on outsole by heel area. Minor scuff on right bape swoosh of left shoe. On the left shoe, where the outer quarter panel meets the midsole, the beige leather layer is beginning to peel off. Overall, very good condition.
