NIKE AIR FORCE 1 MID SP OFF-WHITE VARSITY MAIZE - 25/11/23

Let's take a nostalgic trip back to the summer of 2019, a time when the late and legendary Virgil Abloh unveiled his "Figures of Speech" exhibition at MCA Chicago. This exhibit showcased a treasure trove of never-before-seen sneaker samples, and among them, one particular pair set the sneaker world ablaze – the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 High OG 'Canary Yellow.' If the leaks and rumors were to be believed, this would have marked Abloh's fourth take on the iconic Air Jordan However, after years of eager anticipation, the release never came to fruition.
Tragedy struck in 2022 when an official spokesperson for Jordan Brand confirmed that there were absolutely no plans for the coveted 'Canary Yellow' release. Sneaker enthusiasts mourned this missed opportunity, while resellers undoubtedly envisioned the potential windfall. But just when all hope seemed to have vanished, the sneaker community received exciting news with the announcement of the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid 'Varsity Maize.' Suddenly, the world of sneakers felt whole again.
Draped in a full leather construction, the latest creation from Off-White features a color scheme identical to the unreleased Air Jordan 1 High – a striking combination of contrasting yellow and white hues. It boasts all the signature deconstructed elements that have become synonymous with the Off-White brand – a stitched-on Nike Swoosh, the iconic zip-tie, and, of course, ample use of Helvetica font, as per Off-White tradition.
To ensure a secure fit, a Velcro-fastened strap wraps around the collar, further reinforced by two distinct lacing systems. Beneath it all lies a distinctive wavy Air midsole, adorned with a series of rubber spikes typically found on track shoes. Completing the look is a grim reaper embroidery around the heel, adding a unique and eye-catching touch to the 'Varsity Maize.'
