Nike's Air Ship "Every Game" is Inspired by Michael Jordan's Superstitions

Designed by Bruce Kilgore, the Nike Air Ship from 1984 takes all of the tech from the ever-popular Air Force 1 and stuffs it into a high-top basketball shoe. The result is a breathtaking piece of footwear that was at the top of its game, and would later go on to inspired Michael Jordan's Air Jordan 1 which dropped one year after. To pay homage to this origin story, as well as one of His Airness biggest superstitions, the Beaverton-based sportswear company has taken the wraps off of the Nike Air Ship "Every Game" - and here's everything that we know so far.

Outfitted in a "Summit White" suede construction that's soft and smooth to the touch, this Air Ship is accented with "Mystic Red" leather across the lacing system, Nike Swoosh, and collar, where you'll find the text "Every Game" embroidered around the back. According to MJ himself, throughout his entire 15 season career with the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards, he wore his practice shorts from his time at UNC under his uniform. He had these on when he won a national championship in 1982, so, naturally, it just became part of his official fit.

The Air Ship then sits on top of a pair of creamy Air midsole underfoot, which fall perfectly in line with the model's throwback theme.

The Nike Air Ship "Every Game" is set to drop on May 10th, and it a must-own if you're a hardcore Jumpman fan. Let us know if you'll be adding these to your rotation later this month, and while you're here, you might as well take a closer look at the Nigel Sylvester x Nike Air Ship collaboration.
