In 2009, Nike continued its collaboration with Livestrong, the cancer-fighting initiative established by cyclist Lance Armstrong, by releasing a limited edition Air Force 1 Low. The shoe was part of Nike’s efforts to support cancer research and raise awareness for Livestrong’s cause. The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Mr. Cartoon Livestrong” featured custom artwork by Mr. Cartoon, a renowned tattoo artist and designer from Los Angeles.

The design incorporated Livestrong’s trademark colours of black and yellow, which are often associated with the foundation. One of the notable design elements on the shoe is the gradient Swooshes, where the colours transition from black to yellow, adding a dynamic touch to the iconic Nike branding. Additionally, an embroidered “LA” logo can be found on the heel, representing Mr. Cartoon’s Los Angeles roots and connection to the shoe’s design.
